I think she and you make valid points.
We're not awfully child-friendly in the UK are we? In Wales we've now had a Child Commissioner for a little while. I expected bullying tohave been a major issue but hadn't thought about decent toilets and access to drinking water to have been issues but they were - As he said -We wouldn't expect more…

It was pretty good, was't it? I tried explaining it to my friend in the pub, but couldn't remember half of it. And I didn't realise he was Gwynnie's squeeze and father to Apple - my friend filled me in on details - if I'd known that I might have believed the story!:D more…

Wow! Thanks for your positive reaction to my blog and I take the Guardian reader comment as a compliment. I'm also delighted to be communicating with someone else who's read 'Ghost Children'.
More depressing was today's Woman's Hour and the effect of the changes in Poland on abortion.
Cheers,
Suzee

Sorry I've been tardy about replying, thanks for the comments. Glad you left them otherwise I wouldn't have discovered your fascinating blog. Very thought provoking, you'd make a good guardian reader. BTW have read Ghost Children, very good. more…

Yes, I'm sure it was an April Fools, I laughed all the way through it, but couldn't resist having a pop at Big "Dave's" trainers. Sorry, I should have made it clearer, bit misleading. more…

So is it an April Fools' Day prank, or is it real? I don't know much about Chris Martin, but can he be so shallow and stupid? more…

Why does everyone hate liberals? All my 30+ friends have become so conservative. When I mentioned that I was more liberal at a church get together then Nazi rantings about tax and immigration, Maoris etc, people looked at me as if I was a Satanist, hence I am not going today but typing this reading your blog! more…

Just found you due to latest posting. I have cloth ears so can't appreciate your musical side, but love your style. I don't actually read 'The Guardian', but I fit the stereotype of a reader.
Welcome/Croeso!

It's worrying isn't it? Quite the best thing I've ever read around abortion, unwanted children, childcruelty and how complex it all is, is a novel by Sue Townsend. It's called 'Ghost children' and if I had my way it would be required reading for all social workers. more…

Not aware of any of these mags, and I am blissfully unknowledgeable about the characters (bar one) that you name from, presumably, the literature and the media at large. I shall be happy to stay that way.

Never read Heat. Sounds like I'm really missing out big time. Wonder if they have a copy in the library? Sleep tight. Steve. more…
